About us

Combs Infant School has always been proud of its high standard of care and achievement. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum which meets the needs of all children under the current legislation. This includes the requirements of the National Curriculum, the Primary Strategy, the Early Learning Goals and Derbyshire's agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.

Within the "family" atmosphere of this small school we aim to foster a desire to learn, served by skills and knowledge, enabling the children to develop to their full potential.

We believe our children truly benefit from the close interaction of the other children, the parents and the community. We try to create an exciting and stimulating environment where children can be themselves and be happy, and where they are allowed to develop at a pace appropriate to their own individual needs.

Combs achieved the ‘outstanding’ standard throughout in the report following the Ofsted inspection in 2006 and was singled out as a 'particularly successful school’ in the government annual report to the Queen on quality and standards in education, and ' Gold Star ' status in the Times newspaper. We have also been awarded the ' Health Promoting Schools Award ', the ' DfES School Achievement Award, the third ' Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark ' in 2007, The ICT Mark, the Anti-Bullying Award of Excellence, ECO Silver award and the Active Mark.
